By adopting a senior you have the assurance that your contribution goes directly to provide meals for a specific person. Typically this person is a longtime resident of Nevada County; who grew up here, worked in our community in the trades or service industry, has aged here, and is now faced with more expense decisions than fixed income can cover. Knowing that they will have a hot nutritious meal five days a week eases a burden. Each meal is designed to supply one-third the required nutrients and calories for an adult per day delivered hot and ready to eat.
What it costs:
While these are real costs to provide meals, contributions of any amount are gratefully accepted. They all add up and help us reach our goal.
What you get:
The knowledge that you have provided a senior member of your community with a hot and hearty meal, providing one-third the recommended calories and nutrients required for an adult, delivered ready to eat right to their home.
This meal is often the single most important factor that delays the need for expensive institutional care by allowing someone to remain living independently in their home.
The drivers who deliver the meals also provide daily social contact with someone who might otherwise be isolated. They can notice a change in physical or mental conditions. They also provide links to other services while building relationships that the recipients are important to the recipients.
So for every dollar contributed, you provide two services ~ Nutrition and Gatekeeper.
You may chose to adopt a senior with a one-time contribution or pledge to send a small amount on a regular basis. All of us working together can make a difference
You can be a Dollar Donor or Volunteer. We always need volunteer drivers as well as cash contributions.
